GENERAL RULES
- It is mandatory for all persons entering a restricted area of the track to read and execute, all pertinent waivers and releases.
- The pits area has a maximum speed limit of five (5) miles per hour. No one under the age of 14 allowed in the “hot pits” area. Firearms are prohibited on track property except for working security and law enforcement personnel.
- Abusive language, fighting, or physical abuse will not be tolerated. Offenders are subject to arrest & prosecution or suspension.
- No alcoholic beverages or controlled substances are permitted in the pit area.
- Any driver exiting a race vehicle on the racetrack unless directed to do so by a track official or in response to an emergency is subject to disqualification.
- All drivers are responsible for the conduct of their crewmembers and associates.
- Equipment not conforming to specifications stated herein may be impounded by the track. All cars are subject to inspection by officials at any time.
- Injuries incurred at the track must be reported to office prior to leaving the track premises. Failure to do so may result in denial of insurance claims.
- All drivers must be ready to compete in their scheduled event(s) including qualifying. Cars must be in position in the staging area prior to call for the event including qualifying. Cars not present at the staging area when the field is summoned to be weighed prior to qualifying will get ONE lap. Cars not time trialing or drawing will be at the rear of lineup. The track may invert qualifiers, Any driver winning 2 features will be started in no better than 3rd position, 3 feature wins starts in row 6, 4 feature wins starts in the rear.
- All events are scored in relation to the lead car. Scoring protests must be registered within ten (10) minutes of the posting of event results.
- All drivers are responsible for understanding flag signals. The following flag signals apply:
- Green Flag: Begin and maintain normal racing pace.
- White Flag: You are entering final lap of race.
- Black Flag: Go to pits immediately.
- Red Flag: Danger, stop immediately.
- Yellow Flag: Caution, slow to pace speed, no passing.
- Blue Flag: Allow lead cars to pass.
- Checkered Flag: End of race.
- When the caution appears all cars must slow to pace speed and tail the car ahead. At the discretion of the Race Director, the offending driver(s) may be restarted in the rear. All other cars will restart in the running order of the last completed green flag lap.
- ALL starts of the race, cars must remain in double file until green flag, passing to EITHER SIDE is prohibited until car has passed the start line position. On initial starts, if (1) lap is not completed, all cars retain their original position. Any cars going to pits restart at tail. Cars will be single file in the event of a third attempt to start.
- Cars not responding to the black flag,or not getting in directed position will not be scored.
- RACE will be offical if time limit expires or laps are competed.
- NO RADIO's unless state in class rules.
- In the event of a red flag Driver must remain in the car unless otherwise directed by track officials. Under a red flag period, a car may return to the pit area. If car returns to the event it must go the tail.
- Cars may not be worked on in track or infield area.
- Any car involved in more than two (2) caution flag incidents during a race, either as the cause or otherwise involved, is subject to suspension from the event at the discretion of the Race Director.
- CALLS:
- IF LEADER IS SPUN, CAR THAT HIT IT WILL GO TO REAR, LEAD CAR WILL RETAIN LEAD.
- IF THERE IS A SPIN OUT OR WRECK OTHER THAN LEADER, WITH A YELLOW CALLED, CARS THAT THE YELLOW WAS CALLED FOR WILL GO TO REAR. IF IT IS DEEMED THAT ANOTHER CAR HIT AND CAUSED THE SPIN THAT CAR SHALL GO TO REAR ALSO.
- IF A CAR GOES PAST HOT PITS WHICH ENDS AT TRACK ENTRANCE IT WILL NOT BE ALLOWED BACK ON TRACK.
- Rough driving will not be tolerated. The general rule is car causing caution or cars involved in the caution will be moved to the rear of the field as directed by the race director or track official. If there are cars that are more than one lap down, the cars involved may be moved to the end of the line of lead lap cars. Non-incidental contact between cars may subject either car to a disciplinary action. Decision of the officials in charge is final. Officials will only discuss any disputed call/technical protest with the driver of said vehicle.
- Any driver considered to be causing a caution by deliberately stopping is subject to disciplinary action.
- Only a car driver may lodge a technical protest. To protest, the protesting driver
- vehicle must be running at the finish of the protested event,
- may protest only a car finishing ahead of their final position in the event,
- must state, not more than one (1) technical specification they are disputing on not more than one (1) car finishing ahead of them in that race.
- Visuals ALLOWED ONLY AFTER HEAT RACES
Protests must be lodged immediately after the event, within 5 minutes.
Individual lodging protest is subject to a like inspection of equipment of their entry,
at the discretion of the Race Director/Technical Inspector. Counter protests will only be
allowed in the event of the protested car teardown. Protests of a frivolous nature will not be
accepted nor executed and the decision of the officials in charge is final.
Protest fees are indicated in specific division rules. One (1) representative of the protesting car,
the driver, and mechanic of the protested car may be present for teardown, unless otherwise
directed by the Chief Technical Inspector. No other person may enter the teardown/protest
area without the permission of the Chief Technical Inspector. All protest monies must be
submitted in cash and will be retained by the track until said protest decision is final.
The race director/promoter reserve the right to retain any part for inspection to clarify the
legality of the part and may retain any “illegal” part. A protested vehicle may be impounded
for 2 days for inspection.
- Points will be awarded to registered drivers in accordance with point schedule. All points are calculated according to official payoff data. The track will audit points and post official standings periodically during point season. Track audited points are official and final. Any point fund will be paid according to official payoff records (registered owner filing social security number and/or tax identification number) only. No points will be awarded for a disqualification. Drivers will be responsible for informing track officials about driver changes in any division prior to that particular feature event. Points are awarded to the driver of record starting the race. If a driver different from the one qualifying or entering a car is substituted for an event, the car must start at the tail.
- Driver change: If a driver is different from the one qualifying or is substituted for an event, the car must start at the tail of the field. It is the responsibility of the driver to report driver changes prior to the event. Failure to do so will result in disqualification from the event. A driver cannot change cars after the start of an event. A driver may participate in more than one division if approved.
- The officials in charge will act upon any situations not specifically covered by these rules and specifications whether procedural or technical, and their decision will be final.
- Minimum acceptable equipment, all cars in all divisions:
- Rollover Protection: Four-point full roll cage, welded to mainframe walls or minimum 4.0-inch x 4.0-inch, 3/16ths thickness steel pads continuously welded to main uni-body floor structure at strongest points. Roll cage is required unless specified by division.
- Main hoop behind driver must have lateral bar positioned at approximately driver shoulder height when normally seated for attachment of shoulder harness hardware. Main hoop must be “X” braced. Forward uprights must be laterally braced at dash level and at top of windshield area. Driver’s side of roll cage opening must have minimum of three (3) parallel protective bars with at least six (6) inches of vertical spacing. Horizontal bars must be braced vertically between courses at minimum intervals of 12-inches. Roll cage opening opposite driver must have minimum, full “X” bracing. Main roll cage structure must tie to front and rear fabricated frame clips, as utilized. Top opening of roll cage must be “X” braced. All roll cage members must be minimum 1.75-inch outside diameter, .095-inch wall thickness DOM steel tubing.
- Driver Restraints: Five-point, minimum three-inch wide, designed for racing harness required with quick-release fasteners. Restraints must be secured to roll cage members and/or frame rails, not to floor. Restraints must be maintained free of fraying or dry cracking and are subject to periodic approval inspection.
- Seat: Designed-for-racing steel or aluminum types are required. No fiberglass seats. Seat must mount securely to roll cage structure. D. Driver apparel: One or two-piece minimum single-layer Nomex (or equivalent) driver suits required.
- Helmet: Must be full-coverage, USFI Standard or Snell 90 approved.
- Fire Extinguisher: All cars must be equipped with a working, on-board fire extinguisher within normal reach of driver. Multi-point, on-board fire extinguisher systems are recommended.
- Fuel Cell: Must be USFI Approved type with full container Fuel cell must be securely mounted within protective structure of car.
- Firewalls: All cars must have metal firewalls between drivers compartment and engine and driver’s compartment and fuel cell.
- Drive shaft Loops: All cars must be equipped with a drive shaft retaining loop (1/4-inch x 2.0-inch minimum size) mounted approximately 12-inched rearward of the transmission so drive shaft cannot fall in case of front u-joint failure. A second, rearward mounted drive shaft loop is highly recommended unless specified in division rules. Drive shafts must be painted white.
- Electrical: No electric fuel pumps allowed unless specifically permitted by rules for a division. All cars must have master electrical cutoff switch located within normal reach of driver. Battery must be mounted securely in support frame and be covered to prevent spillage. Traction control devices, whether electrically or mechanically engaged, are strictly prohibited.
- No nitrous systems or oxygen-bearing fuel additives are allowed. The track reserves the right to require use of fuel sold by the track.
- Ballast weights must have number of car clearly and indelibly printed on individual weights, and must be secured by bolts/lock nuts or trapped in such a manner that they cannot be dislodged under normal racing conditions. Any car/competitor losing ballast weight on the track may be disqualified from that event plus lose weight.
- In the event that you are required by Class Rules to ADD WEIGHT, said weight must be removable. The Technical Inspector may, at any time, request that you weigh your vehicle without the weight. The Technical Inspector may, at any time, ask for the weight so he may weigh it: said weight must be presented at the Tech Shed in a timely manner but must be presented before the feature. The Inspector May watch said weight being removed. He will weigh it. He May watch it being reinstalled. At the Inspector's discretion he may apply a seal to the bolt/s. The Class Rulebook Specifies Added Weight Location. Technical Inspector is the sole arbitrator of said location.
- All cars must be painted in a workmanlike manner. All cars must have approved; legible numbers in contrasting color to car paint scheme, at least 24’ high, with minimum 3’ stroke. Numbers must be placed on both door areas and top, and as directed by officials.
- Infractions of rules set forth in this complete document, whether regarding conduct and deportment or technical specifications, subject the offender to (a) disqualification from an individual race meet, (b) loss of points and/or purse and (c) suspension from subsequent competition for a period to be determined by representatives of Crossville Raceway officials reserve the right to change or amend any rule set forth at any time without notice, Track officials reserve the right to reject any entry. Crossville Raceway will not be responsible for any damage to any vehicle or personal property located on track grounds.
