outruns field for Tuesday night win
Crossville,
TN (June 5th) – Crossville Raceway held the first
“Tennessee RV Tuesday Night Trio” of the year. Three
classes were in action, and the good crowd on hand
saw some great racing.
In Late Model qualifying, it was #10 Chris Wilson
setting fast time with a lap of 13.65. The second
quick qualifier was #29 Jason Welshan with a lap
of 13.83. Heat race #1 was won by #122 Mike Weeks,
second was #J1 Johnny Phillips, and #30 Ryan King
rounded out the top three. The second heat race
was won by #77 Perry Delaney, #8 Trent Mullinax,
and #51 Mack McCarter rounded out the top three.
The 35-lap Late Model feature started with Wilson
winning the drag race into turn one. Welshan was
close by, Weeks was third, #24 Greg Martin fourth,
and Delaney was rounding out the top five. Lap seven
saw Delaney pressure Martin for fourth. Lap twenty
saw Weeks get by Welshan for second. On lap twenty-two
Welshan took his ill handling car to the pits. This
moved #71 Pierce McCarter into the fifth spot. Wilson
cruised to the popular win, as he pocketed the $1200
first prize plus a $400 bonus from Ujunkdit.com.
Second was Weeks, third was Martin, Delaney was
fourth, and Pierce McCarter rounded out the top
five.
The Open Wheel Modifieds were on the schedule for
the first time in a few years. The heat races were
very competitive, and heat race #1 was won by #15
Jeff Hamby, second went to #36 Billy Palmer, and
#29 Joey Cotterman rounded out the top three. Heat
race #2 was won by #10 Mack McCarter, second was
#47 Brad Hall, and #1 Joey Whittenburg rounded out
the top three.
The Open Wheel Feature was $700 to win thanks to
a few generous sponsors. The 25-lap feature saw
Hamby power into the lead. McCarter was running
in second and Palmer was in third. On lap three
Joey Cotterman got by Palmer for third, and on the
same lap Michael Asberry moved into fifth. Asberry
got by Palmer for fourth on lap six. Lap nine saw
Hall move into fifth past Palmer. On lap fifteen
Cotterman got into McCarter which resulted in McCarter
spinning out. The caution was charged to Cotterman.
This moved Asberry up to third, Hall in fourth,
and Palmer fifth. Meanwhile up front Hamby built
a sizeable lead, and he kept that lead until the
end, as he took home the trophy. McCarter finished
second, Asberry third, Hall fourth, and Palmer rounded
out the top five.

by #A93 Nathan Adams, second place went to #7 Brian
Larson, and #93 Joseph Osborne. The second heat
