2010 - LATE MODEL RULES
- Any driver competing in the Late Model Division must have a valid Driver's License or learner's Permit.
- BLOCK: Cast iron only. 362 cubic inch 6" eng. setback max.
- HEADS: Steel, CHEY 23 degree only. FORD 10 degree
- CRANK: Any steel crank 49.5 lbs minimum weight. 3.50 stroke
- RODS: NO titanium or aluminum rods.
- PISTONS: Any flat top pistons and pins. Cannot come out of block.
- CAM: ANY
- VALVE: max. Intake 2.055 & exhaust 1.60. Stem 11/32 min.
- INTAKE / CARBURETOR: Any 1 four barrel permitted. GAS only
- IGNITION: Any point or electronic ignition. (No traction control)
- TIRES: STEEL HEAD REAR Tire Rule Only
(must durometer 50 at any time. NO TOLERANCE).
- BODY: Lucas body. (except all crates may have 12" spoiler)
- WEIGHT: 2350 lbs ANY EXTERNAL OIL PUMP ADD 75 LBS

CRATE OPTION 1 GUIDELINES
CROSSVILLE SEAL CRATE ENGINE (OPTION 1)
NE SMITH ENGINE RULES:
1. GM PART NUMBER 88958604.
2. THESE ENGINES ARE SEALED AT THE INTAKE MANIFOLD, CYLINDER HEAD, FRONT COVER, AND OIL PAN WITH SPECIAL TWIST OFF BOLT HEADS. CRATE ENGINES MUST NOT BE ALTERED, MODIFIED OR CHANGE FROM FACTORY SPECS.
3. THE SEALED ENGINES MUST REMAIN INTACT AND NOT BE TAMPERED WITH; ANY SEALS THAT HAVE BEEN REMOVED OR TAMPERED WITH WILL MAKE THE ENGINE ILLEGAL AND NOT ELIGIBLE FOR COMPETITION.
4. NO CHANGES ARE ALLOWED TO THE ENGINE - INTAKE MANIFOLD, HEADS, VALVE COVERS, FRONT COVER, OIL PAN, HARMONIC BALANCER OR ANY OTHER PART / OR PARTS ON / OR IN ENGINE.
A) Beginning in January 2010 Competitors may run a maximum of a .020” shim under valve springs on repaired or rebuilt engines, or on new engines, that inconsistencies are found with “install height” or “free height” of replacement valve springs, and must remain with in the GM specifications for install height (604-1.780”, and valve spring seat pressure, 604 105lb maximum. WARNING!! It is the racers responsibility to ensure each INDIVIDUAL valve spring has the correct “install height” and meets the maximum valve spring pressure rule, as per the GM specification manual.
5. NO VACUUM PUMPS.
6. ALL CRATE ENGINES MUST REMAIN STOCK AS THEY CAME SEALED FROM THE FACTORY. CRATE ENGINES MUST NOT BE ALTERED, MODIFIED OR CHANGED FROM FACTORY SPECS.
7. ENGINE SERIAL NUMBER MUST BE CLEARLY VISIBLE TO SERIES TECHNICAL INSPECTORS.
CARBURETOR RULES(1) MAY USE ONE CARBURETOR SPACER (1 INCH-ONE PIECE WITH .040 TOLERANCE MAXIMUM) AND TWO STANDARD PAPER GASKETS (MAXIMUM 0.070 INCH THICK), ONE GASKET BETWEEN INTAKE TO SPACER AND ONE GASKET BETWEEN SPACER TO CARBURETOR.
DISTRIBUTOR-ANY ELECTRONIC TYPE IGNITION SYSTEM. NO CRANK TRIGGER, DISTRIBUTORLESS MULTI-COIL, OR MAGNETO IGNITION SYSTEM.
WATER PUMP RULES: ALUMINUM PERMITTED. 2. NO ELECTRIC
1. HEADERS COLLECTOR TYPE REQUIRED. MUST HAVE FOUR (4) TUBES INTO ONE (1) COLLECTOR OF A CONSISTENT DIAMETER.
3. NO TRI-Y HEADERS OR MERGED HEADERS ALLOWED

COMPLETE TEAR DOWN: $800.00 fee. $200.00 goes to track
CAM PROFILE: $300. $100 goes to track.

WEIGH CRANKSHAFT: $300. $100 of fee goes to track.
CARBURETORS *Any 750 CFM Carb or smaller. Must have 1 11/16th (standard) base plate maximum. No exceptions
*Billet base plates may be used (.780 maximum)
604 1 Inch carb spacer maximum (0 TOLERANCE) *Please take time to check your plate with a gauge, not a tape measure. Spacer may not protrude into carb or intake at any point. . One gasket per surface. .070 maximum.
*No fuel injection, nitrous oxide or other type systems allowed. *Aerosol carbs are not legal.
FUEL SYSTEMS Mechanical fuel pump only. NO electric fuel pump of any type EVACUATION SYSTEMS EVACUATION SYSTEMS ARE NOT ALLOWED OF ANY TYPE!.
Note: This means any type vacuum system. Includes vacuum from that of breather system and/or any other means of “pressure evacuation”.
HEADERS Tri Y headers are not legal. No merge collectors *Please note it has been brought to our attention the use of custom headers. Should the price of headers become what the series considers ‘unreasonable’ and an unfair advantage, the series retains the right to use ‘spec headers’
OIL PUMP Wet sump only. No external oil pumps. Even if considered “wet”: Remote oil filter and lines permitted. (One) remote oil filter. (One) Oil cooler allowed.
DISTRIBUTOR No magnetos. Electronic ignition allowed. MSD type box allowed. Series retains the right to change MSD boxes at any time without notice. No crank triggers or devices that allow external adjustment of timing. ELECTRONIC DEVICES No electronic devices allowed on any car thereby enhancing adjustment of that car. Electronic brake “cut off” legal on right front only No remote control devices allowed on any car during any event. Lap timers allowed during practice sessions only. No electronic devices controlling shocks
Hoosier FASTRAK FT200, FT400 Tires may be checked by officials at any time. Must meet minimum durometer requirements Tires may be confiscated by track at anytime (for checking numbers versus spec altering, etc). Tires may be checked by independent lab for ‘treating’ and other alterations. OPTIONAL AMERICAN 48 or 56
CRATE OPTION 2 GUIDELINES
Repair & Rebuild Parts
A. Non-GM Parts - May be purchased directly from manufacturer:
1. Oil Pan - Available from Champ Pans - P/N -CP100LTRB
2. Oil Pump - Standard Cast Iron High Volume Must be small block pump.
3. Piston - GM P/N -10159437 available from MAHLE as P/N - 027520 must be used with wristpin supplied with this piston. No lightening (other than balancing) or alterations of any kind to piston or pin. No performance coatings. May use overbore up to .030.
4. Piston Rings - GM Low tension racing ring of same composition, size& spec available through Hastings, TRW, Sealed Power, etc. No Gapless Rings.
5. Gaskets - Any brand oil pan, valve cover, and rear main seal are allowed. Intake gaskets must be same rigid plastic with rubber inlay seals as provided from GM P/N -89017465. No alterations to gasket are allowed. Cylinder head gasket must be same 0.051 compressed thicknesses as GM P/N -12557236. Intake and head gasket are available from Victor.
6. Aftermarket Valve Springs & seals are allowed. Must have GM valve spring retainers and locks. No additional or pressurized valve spring oilers permitted.
7. Engine bearings - Optional (coated or un-coated) No rollerized cam, rod, or main bearings. Clearance optional.
8. Timing Gear and chain - Available from GM or Cloyes P/N GM604

1. GM 54.5lbs Min. Crank P/N -14096036 repair re-grinding permitted. No alteration of stroke, rod, or main journal diameter. No Nitriding, hard plating, or modification of any kind.

Machine Work
Rotating assembly- may be balanced. Connecting Rod, Piston, and pin may not be less than 3 grams lighter than Factory spec. Crankshaft balancing may only be done by drilling or adding weight to the counter balance. No narrowing or Knife-edging to obtain balance. No aftermarket sleeve allowed. Minimum piston deck height 0.010. No angle milling, block will be measured on 90 degree intervals. May be line honed. Stock GM caps and bolts mandatory. No shot peening or heat treating of the caps. Stock push in Welch plugs may be replaced with screw in plugs. No rollerized cam bearings. No polishing of the block inside or out. Excessive casting debris may be removed. No performance enhancing coatings. No additional oil supply or enlargement of oil supply galleys. No oil restrictors of any kind. No plugging, drilling, or modification of the cooling system. No block fillers or strengthening materials. Standard push in soft plugs only, no spot welding, pinning, or locking device of any kind. Multi-angle valve job with minimum 44 degree and maximum 46 degree for primary valve or seat angle (blending angles top and bottom optional). Untouched portion of valve seat as comes from GM may not be enlarged or modified in any way. Depth of valve job lower cut may not exceed depth of original GM valve job. Surfacing of the head due to warp age repair is permitted. No angle milling of head. Volume of the port and radius measurements and all other aspects will be teched COMBUSTION CHAMBER 58 cc min. INTAKE PORT 210 cc max. EXHAUST PORT 82 cc max. Heli-coils protruding into intake port may be trimmed. Compression Ratio 10.0:1 Max… No deviation.
